DIY Nation: What’s Behind the Czech Cybersecurity Revolution?

Most people don’t know much about our little powerhouse of a country nestled in the heart of Europe. They come for the historic architecture, the beautiful countryside, and the beer.

But did you know the Czech Republic ranks #1 on the cyber security index (NSCI)? Or that it is home to many fast growing, leading-edge data security companies? There’s antivirus software giant Avast, AVG security software, and Cognitive Security that uses artificial intelligence to detect cyber threats. There’s also Slush Pool, the world’s first Bitcoin mining pool, and the first Bitcoin hardware wallet Trezor.

Cryptelo is proud to be in such esteemed company. But we don’t think it’s luck. We believe there’s a deeply ingrained culture of innovation and a do-it-yourself spirit that drives the Czech cybersecurity revolution.

Czechs have always been good at ‘workarounds.’ It’s like a game for us. Part of this workaround mindset evolved under communism. In a country with such a strong democratic heritage, we had to find ‘hacks’ to continue living and thinking freely.

Our problem solving spirit is supported by a strong history in mechanical engineering, research and development. Prague is home to Charles University, the oldest university in Central Europe, and the MFF (Faculty of Mathematics and Physics). These prestigious universities are producing the next generation of DIY developers. Google recognized this when it decided to create its first European Center for Developers in Prague. More and more companies recognize the DIY spirit of Czech developers. And now investors are also recognizing this potential.

Join our DIY nation! Invest in Cryptelo and be a part of the Cybersecurity Revolution.
